PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an ablation type image forming material having excellent image durability and no defect, and a method for forming an image suitable to use it. SOLUTION: In the case of forming the ablation type image forming material 4 having a color material layer 2 and protective layer 3 sequentially provided on a transparent support 1 by sequentially coating the support with color material layer forming coating liquid and protective layer forming coating liquid, (1) an evaporating speed V1 of solvent of the material layer forming coating liquid and evaporating speed V2 of solvent of the protective layer forming coating liquid satisfy a relation of 0.15<=V2 /V1 <=1.50, (2) vapor pressure of P1 of the solvent of the material layer forming coating liquid and vapor pressure P2 of the solvent of the protective layer forming coating liquid satisfy a relation of 0.20<=P2 /P1 <=1.50, or (3) surface tension τ1 of the solvent of the material layer forming coating liquid and surface tension τ2 , of the solvent of the protective layer forming coating liquid satisfy a relation of 0.80<=τ2 /τ1 <=1.20. |
