PURPOSE:To attain the bidirectional transmission by a single cored optical fiber with high reliability, by using an optical directional coupler for both input and output planes of a repeater respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a power supply of a station is turned off, an optical switch 2 is bypassed and disconnected from the system. On the other hand, when the power supply is turned on, the optical switch 2 is turned on and a transmission signal is connected to the optical directional coupler 6, where optical signals are coupled/distributed, for example, in the optical repeater side 3, an input signal is distributed and supplied to an R side of the optical repeater 3. Further, an output signal of a T side of the optical repeater 3 is coupled at the coupler 6 and transmitted to a transmission line 1a via the optical switch 2. |
