The method involves automatically transmitting an audio signal over a Global system for mobile communication (GSM)-mobile phone-subscriber connection after transmitting minimum set of data from a road vehicle. The minimum set of data is transmitted from the vehicle according to a circuit switched data-transmission process that conforms to a GSMstandard. The minimum set of data is exchanged to a data operation mode (DA) of a GSMby the subscriber connection. The audio signal is transmitted within the subscriber connection in an audio operation mode (AU). An independent claim is also included for a device for transmitting emergency data and audio signal from a road vehicle to an emergency center.
