PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the solving method to allocate a virtual channel to each flow while managing a virtual channel set as one connection. SOLUTION: Two end users TE desiring to exchange different kinds of traffics such as voice, facsimile, data traffic and signaling traffic or the like with different coding systems are connected by using plural virtual channel identifiers to interconnect them on an ATM cell exchange network 62. However, plural virtual channel identifiers in a network are processed as one connection. Only one entry is available in a connection table of each network node. Part of the virtual channel identifier is disregarded in a network node and not revised. While each virtual channel is considered individually by a level of each end user TE, since the network manages one connection, the network resource is saved.
