A cheese mould for making cheese, especially soft or semisolid, smooth cheese, with self-pressure in a round or angular mould 10 with a fixed bottom 12 and essentially upright side walls 14. By providing the insides 16 of the mould with a large number of essentially parallel, vertical whey runoff grooves 20, and the horizontal bottom 12 of the mould with horizontal whey runoff grooves 22, which have common whey runoff holes 25 in the side walls 14 at the level of the bottom 12, one obtains a well functioning mould that is cheap to produce. <IMAGE>
