A non-aqueous electrochemical cell including a metallic casing composed of a first casing member of one polarity and a second casing member of opposite polarity, the said casing members being separated from one another by an electrically insulating gasket which forms, between the said casing members, a seal substantially impermeable to water and low boiling point solvents, said gasket being composed of a plurality of juxtaposed polymers, a first polymer forming an adhesive outer surface of the gasket wherein the gasket is attached to part of the said casing, a second polymer which is substantially impermeable to water to prevent water entering the cell, and a third polymer which is substantially impermeable to low boiling point solvents to prevent loss from the cell of any low boiling point solvents in the cell electrolyte. <IMAGE> |
