The ball bearing has two sets of balls (3, 4) which can move in a raceway (51) inside an inner ring (5). This is held in place on a hub (2) by a flange (27) formed by shaping its end (28) after the ring is in position and which pushes the ring against a shoulder (26) on the hub. A discontinuous curve (7) links the outer edge of the ring to its base and a strip of the material of the hub is cast into the gap between the discontinuity and the hub itself, after forming the flange. An Independent claim is also included for the inner ring of the ball bearing.
