PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily obtain an image to cause less black-and-white moires or color moires in which brilliance of an object becomes natural by arranging a quarter-wave plate at least to one of both of the object side and the image surface side of a light intensity control means to control light transmittance using polarization. SOLUTION: A natural image is photographed, while suppressing the occurrence of moires caused by change of brilliance due to polarization of an object and also caused by reduction of the effect of a crystal low-pass filter LPF due to polarization, by arranging quarter wave plates P1, P2, P3, P4 on both of the object side and the side of an imaging device CCD 1 of light intensity controllers SR, SL constituted of liquid crystals LCDR, LCDL, quarter-wave plates H1, H2, H3, H4. Since the quarter-wave plates P1, P2, P3 and P4 are arranged on both sides of the light intensity controllers SR and SL, linearly polarized light to pass through the light intensity controllers SR, SL is circularly polarized on the object side and the photographed side, and reduction of the effect of the crystal low-pass filter to separate light beam is suppressed, utilizing influence of the object with polarization characteristics and double refraction.
