PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new gene, having a specific amino acid sequence or an amino acid sequence containing a mutation of an amino acid residues without affecting the activities and capable of manifesting activities in controlling the morphogenesis of a plant, and coding for a protein capable of performing the control, etc., over the elongation of a stem. SOLUTION: This gene is a new DNA, having activities in controlling the morphogenesis of a plant and coding for a protein containing an amino acid sequence represented by the formula or an amino acid sequence having the substitution, deficiency or insertion of one or more amino acid residues without affecting activities in controlling the morphogenesis of the plant in the amino acid sequence. This gene is useful for regulation, etc., of the stem length of the plant and an inflorescent form. The DNA is obtained by preparing an mRNA from a terrestrial tissue of Arabidopsis thaliana, preparing a cDNA library therewith and screening the cDNA library with an oligonucleotide synthesized based on a base sequence of a mutable gene isolated from a plant body having the mutation related to the control of the morphogenesis. |
