PURPOSE:To easily obtain the good-looking element which can be increased in transmissivity at the time of voltage application by performing light irradiation from the side where a light shielding film is arranged while applying a voltage between an electrode for a background and an electrode facing the electrode, removing the light shielding film while no voltage is applied, and setting a photosetting compound by light irradiation. CONSTITUTION:The light shielding film 7 is arranged on a substrate 1 which corresponds to the part of a display pattern and while the voltage is applied between the electrodes 3B of at least the background part, the light irradiation is performed from the side where the light shielding film 7 is arranged to set the photosetting compound, thereby causing orientation which generates a transparent state irrelevantly to the application state of the voltage. Then the photosetting compound is set by removing the light shielding film 7 and applying light irradiation while no voltage is applied or applying light irradiation from the side where the light shielding film 7 is not arranged. Consequently, the display pattern which enables transmission-scatter control based upon the application state of the voltage can be formed at the part where the light shielding film 7 is formed, and other background parts enters the transparent state irrelevantly of the application state of the voltage, so that the attractiveness is improved. |
