A method and a system for removing algae are provided to remove the algae without spoiling the beauty of a stagnant water area, by operating the system while all components of the system except a rectifier is immersed in water of the stagnant water area. An electrolytic cell(3) is immersed in water of a treatment water area, wherein the electrolytic cell is formed in a pipe type. A rectifier(6) is used to supply electric power to the electrolytic cell. A floating type scum pump(1) sucks and pumps algae floating on a surface of water and is installed at 1 to 1.5 mm height from water surface. An input unit(2) is connected to an input portion of the electrolytic cell and the scum pump, wherein the input unit transfers the pumped algae to the electrolytic cell.
