PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source direction prospecting apparatus configured to simply prospect a position of a light source that emits light irradiated on an object, without using a marker or information on surface reflection properties of the object.SOLUTION: A light source direction prospecting apparatus that prospects a direction of a light source from an image obtained by capturing a predetermined scene includes: data acquisition means for acquiring image data on an image, a three-dimensional data of a subject included in the image, and shadow area data indicating an area of shadow included in the image; candidate light source setting means for setting a position of a candidate light source, as a candidate of the light source; candidate shadow area calculation means which calculates a candidate shadow area, as a candidate of an area of shadow of the subject, formed by light emitted from the candidate light source; likelihood calculation means which calculates likelihood of the candidate light source, from the candidate shadow area and the acquired shadow area data; and light source direction prospecting means which prospects the number of light sources and directions of the light sources by modeling the likelihood with a mixture distribution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
