PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document carrier device skimming over the contents and obtaining high picture-quality readout image signals while holding merits such as a simple constitution, relatively small noise in carrying the document, etc. SOLUTION: This automatic document carrier device is provided with multiple carrier rolls disposed from the upstream side to the downstream side of the document carrier path including a readout position and a driving source feeding a rotation driving force to the respective carrier rolls and reading out the documents to be carried in the readout position. During reading out a document, the states between the carrier roll carrying the document and the other carrier rolls having the same driving source thereto are held as they are.
