<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image output device which has a plurality of printers built therein, wherein the image output device can produce prints of an optimum printing quality even if one of the printers undergoes a failure. <P>SOLUTION: The image output device 1 fetches image data from an input medium brought in by the user, holds the same in a storage section 302, and carries out distributed print processing by activating the plurality of printers by a printing means 103, according to ordered images and the number of ordered sheets inputted by a print order input means 105. When one of the printers undergoes failure, printing of unprinted images to be printed by the printer in trouble is allotted again to the normal printers other than the printer in trouble and processed according to printer processing 415 operable at the time of printer failure. At this time, the image data of the re-allotted images are fetched from the storage section 302, subjected to optimizing processing so as to match with the printer to which the images are allotted again, and then printed.
