By the present invention, provided are the thick steel plate having excellent brittle crack propagation resistance, which includes, by wt%, C: 0.02-0.10%, Mn: 0.8-2.5%, Ni: 0.05-1.5%, Nb: 0.005-0.1%, Ti: 0.005-0.1%, the remaining Fe and inevitable impurities, and has a fine structure including one structure selected from a group comprising a ferrite single phase structure, a bainite single phase structure, a composite structure of ferrite and bainite, a composite structure of ferrite and perlite, and a composite structure of ferrite, bainite and perlite, and the manufacturing method thereof. According to one aspect of the present invention, the method can obtain the thick steel plate having excellent brittle crack propagation resistance which has excellent yield strength and excellent impact transition temperature at a center.
