<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect continuously the absolute position of a moving body by magnetic marks arranged discretely. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic marks 21, 22 are arranged in two rows in parallel with a traveling direction of the moving body 2, and the absolute position based on each magnetic mark 21, 22 is determined by two linear sensors 16, 17.
