PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of reducing a relative speed when the relative speed is generated between a small gear and a large gear in an amount of backlash of an engagement part and capable of reducing a tooth striking sound. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device is provided with the small gear 3 connected to an output shaft of an electric motor for steering assistance; and the large gear 4 having a tooth 41 engaged with a tooth 32 of the small gear 3 and connected to a steering means. An elastic body 9 for reducing the relative speed of the small gear 3 and the large gear 4 by contacting a tooth tip surface 41a of the tooth 41 of the large gear 4 with a tooth bottom surface 32a of the tooth 32 of the small gear 3 is provided. When reverse input load from a road surface is generated or the relative speed is generated between the small gear 3 and the large gear 4 by turning, the elastic body adds resistance and can reduce the relative speed.
