<p>A tangential flow filtration system comprises a tangential flow filtration cell (fig 1) which includes a generally flat filtration membrane (1, Fig 3) (comprises a feed side 2 and a permeate side 3), an inlet (5) and an outlet 6. Feed side (2) is provided with at least one thin tangential flow channel (4), within which a series of successive channel sections, separated by transitional zones which abruptly change the flow direction at an angle greater than 45{, are arranged. Flow from the inlet (5) to the outlet 6 is guided in the cell tangentially along the surface of the filtration membrane; inlet flow on feed side (2) of the membrane changing perpendicular in direction within permeate side (3). The cell is arranged in a recirculation loop including a pump (40, Fig 13) and a cone-shaped flow restrictor 49 which decreases in cross-sectional area in the direction of flow from outlet 6.</p> |
