<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultra-slim liquid crystal display backlight device using high-level uniform light. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display backlight device principally comprises many light emitting diodes (LED) as a light source and a liquid crystal composition 20 sandwiched between the LEDs and an LCD substrate. Light emitted from the LEDs is repeatedly reflected by total reflecting internal walls in the liquid crystal composition, and mixed and averaged to become the high-level uniform light, so the need for devices such as a diffusion plate and a prism light guide plate is eliminated to obtain the advantages that the cost is reduced and light luminosity is increased. Further, the thickness of the backlight device is spatially minimized to sacrifice none of the cost, heat diffusion, and moment and also exert no influence of a use time, differences in luminance and color among the individual LEDs, and a fault on uniformity of a display surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
