A respiration device with a respiration volume measuring device (6) between a respiration bag (8) and a patient adapter (2) is to be improved so that precise dosing of the respiration volume is possible. The device includes a first pressure measuring device (4) and a respiration gas shutoff valve (5) in serial sequence between the patient adapter (2) and the respiration volume measuring device (6), a second pressure measuring device (7) between the respiration volume measuring device (6) and the respiration bag (8), a control unit (20), which is connected to the respiration volume measuring device (6) and the pressure measuring devices (4, 7), and emits control signals so that when a predetermined respiration volume is reached, the respiration gas shutoff valve (5) is switched to the closing position, and so that the closing position is cancelled when the pressure p2 measured with the second pressure measuring device (7) has dropped below the pressure p1 recorded with the first pressure measuring device (4). |
