METHOD FOR DETECTING BACTERIUM OF GENUS LEGIONELLA, AND DETECTION KIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively detecting a live cell of a bacterium of the genus Legionella as compared with a dead cell and a damaged cell, and to provide a kit for detecting the live cell of the bacterium of the genus Legionella. SOLUTION: The method for detection by which the live cell of the bacterium of the genus Legionella is discriminated from the dead cell and/or the damaged cell in a test sample is provided. The method for the detection includes the following steps: (a) a step of treating the test sample with a cross-linking agent for cross-linking a DNA by light irradiation thereof at 350-700 nm wavelength, and carrying out the light irradiation on the test sample at 350-700 nm wavelength; (b) a step of extracting the DNA from the test sample, and amplifying a region corresponding to an mip gene (macrophage infectivity potentiator gene) of the extracted DNA according to a nucleic acid-amplifying method; and (c) a step of analyzing an amplification product.
