On a sliding surface of a pair of sliding components that slide relative to one another, the ingress of dust from a leaky side and the leakage of liquid into the leaky side are prevented. The sliding component is characterized in that: on the sliding surface of at least one of the pair of sliding components, a trap groove 10 for trapping a leaking fluid is provided around the entire circumference, positioned to the leaky side and separated from the leaky side by a land portion; and a dust ingress reduction means 12 is formed which allows passage of a fluid between the land portions disposed to the leaky side of the trap groove 10 in the pair of sliding components but which reduces the ingress of dust from the leaky side. |
