PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus or the like capable of automatically recognizing whether the present situation requires an ultrasonographic observation with an emphasis on the visibility of a centesis needle, or an ordinary ultrasonographic observation. SOLUTION: In the treatment using paracentesis, this ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus determines whether the present situation requires the acquisition of ultrasonographic images in a centesis mode, or in an ordinary mode, based on the needle information including the size of the centesis needle and its moving speed received from a needle detection sensor equipped on an ultrasonic probe (or a centesis adapter), and automatically switches imaging conditions according to the determined result.
