A profile strand (100) for a motor vehicle extends in a longitudinal direction and is configured to seal a movable window pane of the motor vehicle. The profile strand (100) comprises an end portion (110), an end cap (120) and a cover (130). The end cap (120) is coupled to the end portion (110). The cover (130) can cover the end cap (120) at least partially. The end cap (120) comprises a base portion (121) with a contact surface (122) and a top surface (123), the contact surface (122) contacting the end portion (110) and the top surface (123) facing away from the end portion (110). The cover (130) can be moved from an open position, in which the top surface (123) is exposed, to a cover position, in which the top surface (123) is covered. The cover (130) can be fixed in the cover position. In a method for manufacturing such a profile strand (100), the end cap (120) is coupled to the end portion (110) by welding. |
