Histamine H2-receptor antagonists having the formula wherein R1 represents C1-C4 alkyl or benzyl, R2 represents hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl, and Het represents an imidazole, pyrazole, pyrimidine, pyrazine, pyridazine, thiazole, isothiazole, oxazole, isoxazole, triazole, thiadiazole, benzimidazole, or furan ring either unsubstituted or substituted with a C1-C4 alkyl, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl, benzyl, halogen, amino, or dimethylaminomethyl group are disclosed along with a synthetic method of producing such compounds and their use as gastric-acid-production inhibitors.
