Method of Making Curved, Shaped Absobent Article

A method of making a curved absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, is provided. The absorbent article includes a first component that is elastically extensible and which has a first portion and a second portion and also includes a second component. Both of the components have a pair of opposed faces. The first and second components are placed in facing relationship. The first component is stretched so that the first portion of the first component is stretched more than the second portion thereof. A portion of the first component is secured to a portion of the second component to form a pre-formed absorbent article, and the first component is allowed to retract to form a curved absorbent article.
