<p>System for quantitating enzyme activity in whole blood has a rigid array defining separate test zones, the zones including a rigidly confined stacked array of superposed test reagent members in a column to receive test media. The stacked array includes (in descending order) (a) a porous upper glass fibre disc; (b) a porous lower glass fibre disc; (c) a membrane filter disc and (d) a cellulose acetate disc. The porous glass fibre discs prefilter amorphous matter e.g. white cells, from the blood. The porous discs act as dried reagent storage units for elution with clear filtrate from prefilter stage. The membrane filter disc removes red blood cells and particles from the sample. The discs also control fluid volume flow.</p> |
