<p>The movable handle is fixed to an openwork basket which fits inside a saucepan, or fryer. A movable plastics locking mechanism fixes the handle firmly in place on the basket when in use. A metal rod bent so that it forms two parallel wires has a gap between the two wires which is increased a litle when the locking mechanism is fixed in position. The spacing out of the two wires wedges the handle into two notches on the basket. A spiral spring surrounds the ends of the rod, resting on the central part of the rod. Two reinforcements next to the top of the lid are arranged at right angles to each other, for the thumb and finger. The lid is made of metal and its upper portion is of plastics, and carries a filter.</p> |
