PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide return mechanism for a lock operating member, easily manufactured and fitted. SOLUTION: Return mechanism for a lock operating member comprises a body 11 having a cooperating means 13 at a front face 12. The cooperating means 13 converts the rotation of a nut 6 around its axis into the longitudinal motion of the body 11 in cooperation with a complementary means 14 on the nut 6. The end parts of the body 11 include each pair of branch parts 15, 16 forming a fork extended in the ordinate axis direction D. The body 11 is so constituted as to accommodate a spring 18 and has a longitudinal opening part 17 opened at both ends of the body 11, and its width is larger than a gap between the branch parts 15, 16 of the fork. The longitudinal opening part 17 has at least one back face opening part 17a. The back face opening part 17a is opened to the back face of the body 11 and constituted in such a way as to allow the spring 18 to pass through.
