PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the appearance of a digital still camera from becoming unattractive, even when a protective cover attaching groove is formed integrally with a back cover. SOLUTION: The digital still camera is provided with a finder eyepiece section 11 and a monitor screen 12a, both of which are formed to expose from the back of the body of the camera. The camera is also provided with a detachable protective cover 14, which covers the screen 12a. The screen 12a is provided so that the screen 12a is exposed from the top face of an expanded section 2A, formed integrally with the back cover 2 of the camera immediately below the eyepiece section 11. Downwardly depressed upper grooves 2b are provided at spots on the end face of the expanded section 2A covered by the finder eyepiece section 11, and an upwardly depressed lower groove 2c is provided on the lower end face of the section 2A. The protective cover 14 is fitted to the body, by engaging projections 14b and 14c provided in the upper and lower parts of the cover 14 with the upper and lower grooves 2b and 2c, respectively.
