A long-term electrode for electrolytic processes comprises a metallic substrate of a metal passive under the conditions of the electrolytic process and an electrically conductive first coating of a titanium oxide of the formula TiOy (1.999?y?0.1) which has been produced on he surface of the metallic substrate by flame or plasma spraying and covers at least part of the metal substrate and a second coating containing a platinum group metal or platinum group metal compound.
