PURPOSE:To alert an erroneous operation and prevent such a failure by determining whether a position suitable for the selected heating command key is set by detecting the distance to the food-stuff to be cooked or cooking tray by means of a distance measuring sensor, and causing a control section to determine the cooking tray position based on the detected distance data. CONSTITUTION:The heating command signal inputted by means of a heating command key 4 is interpreted in a control section 5. The control section 5 measures the distance to the cooking tray 8 on which a food-stuff 7 is placed by means of a distance measuring sensor 6. Shelf rails 10 are arranged in multiple hight levels on the opposing side walls of the heating chamber 9, and a position suitable for the food-stuff is selected. The detected distance D is smallest when the cooking tray 8 is on the top level, and becomes greater as the position is lowered. That is, by measuring the distance D, the cooking tray position can be determined. Based on this determination of the shelf position selected, a determination is made as to whether it is suitable for the selected heating command key. If the determination results detect that there was an inputting error, the control section 5 alerts such by means of a warning device 11.
