In the diagnostic detection of antibodies against Treponema hyodysenterial by contacting a sample from a pig with T.hyodysenterial antigen on a solid support, the improvement comprises treating the antigen on the solid support with a soln. of casein or other milk protein to prevent non-specific binding, prior to contact with the sample. A test kit is also provided. The prefd. milk protein comprises a soln. of non-fat skim milk in phosphate buffer. This material is listed in the claims.
