The pump has a piston engaging with its end face on an eccentric. Piston (20) and/or eccentric (62) have a permanent magnet (66) to hold the piston in engagement on the eccentric circumference. The piston has a back pressure valve (42) to regulate a fluid flow through the piston pump (10). Valve and magnet are fitted into a hole (32) in the piston. The piston is magnetic.
