PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color smear for higher quality of picture in respective areas when a moving area and a still area are coexist in a pickup range. SOLUTION: This method is used to pick up a frame image consisting of a first field and a second field by interlace scanning. A first image signal is generated corresponding to a first color pixel which is read in the first and second fields by interlace scanning, and a second image signal is generated corresponding to a second color pixel which is read in the first field by interlace scanning, and furthermore a third image signal is generated corresponding to a third color pixel which is read in the second field by interlace scanning. A moving region and a still region in a pickup range are identified based on the signal read from the first color pixel, and the interpolation method of the signal read from the first color pixel is changed corresponding to the result.
