PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency detection method, device and recording medium cheaply realizing a signal processor capable of accurately detecting frequency of input signal in wide frequency range with a simple processing. SOLUTION: The memory variable of RAM 125 is constituted as a counter enlarged to 31(=N+M-n) bits. At a higher level of the bit-enlarged counter, a count integrating value of the compare match interruption is allotted, and at a lower level, the value of in, put capture register 117 is allotted. For correspondence of an overlapping 1(=N) bit that is, upper one bit of input capture register 117 and a lower one bit of the integrated count of the compare match interruption, the integrated count of the compare match interruption is halved and set to the upper 15(=M-n) bits. By detecting the period of input signal from the difference from the prior value of the bit-enlarged counter, the frequency of the input signal is detected.
