PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covering secondary coated optical fiber which gives environment little loading, has high flame retardancy and is excellent in transmission characteristic. SOLUTION: An secondary coated optical fiber 13 used for the covering coated optical fiber core wire 10 is constituted by providing with a UV curing type resin layer 12 on an outer peripheral surface of a glass fiber 11. A second resin composition constituting a secondary covering layer comprises a second resin and a nitrogen-series flame retardant of 10 to 100 pts.wt toward 100 parts by weight of the second resin and further the second resin composition contains no halogen.
