PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate device for water channel having a simple mechanism and capable of pressing a gate main body down forcedly without increasing the size of facility. SOLUTION: This gate device for a water channel is arranged in a boundary part between the water channel 1 and a river, a tip side of a gate main body 4 can turn and rise in the direction of a roof 1a of the water channel in accordance with a difference in water level between a water channel side and a river side, and a flow passage onto the water channel 1 side is closed when the gate main body 4 rises to prevent back flow. In this case, a forced depressor mechanism which can be operated from an upper side of the roof 1a, depresses a tip part of the gate main body 4, and presses it down in the direction of turn is provided.
