PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display which is highly durable and is made relatively inexpensive while its thickness is reduced. SOLUTION: A glass plate 12 is formed to a rectangular flat plate having a prescribed thickness and its flanks 12a are provided with a light source 14 consisting of three light emitting diodes 14a, 14b and 14c. The thickness inside 12b of the glass plate 12 is inscribed with microcracks 15, by which display pictures 13 are formed. The light emitted from the light source 14 enters the thickness inside 12b from the flank 12a of the glass plate 12 and while the light passes the thickness inside 12b, the light falling onto the microcracks 15 is randomly reflected and is released from the surface 12c of the glass plate 12.
