PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill storage device eliminating the possibility of carrying jam or stacking fault of bills by surely preventing the incomplete setting of a bill storage part to a device body. SOLUTION: The bill storage part 6 is provided with an open/close detecting dog 15 and the device body 1 is provided with an open/close detecting sensor 16 so that a control device 12 displaces a storage plate 9 toward a cassette plate 7 when detecting the opened condition of the bill storage part 6. When the bill storage part 6 is shifted from the opened condition to the closed condition, the cassette plate 7 is thrust by the storage plate 9 and a coil spring 8 is compressed for energizing the cassette plate 7 with the energizing force operating on the bill storage part 6 in the opening direction. If there are incompletely fitted a latch 13 of the bill storage part 6 to a latch receiving hole 14 of the device body 1, the bill storage part 6 is opened, not closed.
