PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to drive the liquid crystal cells with a dot inversion type together with inverting the polarity of the pixel signal supplied to each of the data lines in the unit of frame. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel(12), a gate driver(14) and a data driver. The liquid crystal display panel(12) is provided with a thin film transistor and a liquid crystal cell in each of the regions at which a plurality of gate lines is crossing with a plurality of data lines. The gate driver(14) drives the even gate lines after it drives the odd gate lines among the plurality of gate lines. The data driver converts the digital pixel data inputted during a first period to drive the odd gate lines into a plurality of analog pixel signals having a polarity opposite to that of the data line and maintaining the same polarity during the first period and supplies the plurality of analog pixel signals to the data lines. And, the data driver converts the digital pixel data inputted during a second period to drive the even gate lines into a plurality of analog pixel signals having a polarity opposite to that of the pixel signal supplied during the first period and supplies the converted signals to the data lines.
