PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method which can achieve a high cleaning result without deteriorating the performance of a porous separation membrane to be used for removing a virus. SOLUTION: This method for cleaning the porous separation membrane comprises a cleaning step of cleaning organic matter such as protein (for example, globulin and/or albumin) captured in the porous separation membrane by using an acid such as hydrochloric acid, citric acid and sulfamic acid and an enzyme such as pancreatin, papain and ficin. The cleaning step can preferably be divided into two steps, namely, an acid-used cleaning step and an enzyme-used cleaning step.
