PURPOSE:To attain subminiaturization by applying digital processing to a signal of a frequency control circuit system so as to reduce the number of components remarkably, and to reduce the mounted area of the circuit part. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular wave modulation is applied to the output wave of a voltage controlled crystal oscillator 3, the modulated wave is fed to an atomic resonance section 1 of the atomic oscillator and the combination of the output wave from the atomic resonance section 1 and the rectangular modulation signal is fed to a counter 7, and the output of the counter 7 is fed to the voltage controlled crystal oscillator 3 via a D/A converter 8. Thus, the frequency control circuit is constituted as the digital circuit to reduce the mounted area of the circuit part, the number of components is decreased remarkably and the small sized and inexpensive atomic oscillator is obtained.
