<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound that has a phenolic hydroxyl group protected with a protecting group, is stable under usual peroxidase enzymatic reaction conditions and can quantitatively liberate hydroxyphenylpropionic acid under irradiation with light. SOLUTION: This novel compound is represented by the formula [R1 is H, CH3 O, OH; R2 is CH2 CH2 CO2 H, CH2 COOH, CH2 CH2 NH2 , CH2 CH(NH2 )CO2 H, CH2 CH2 OH, CH2 CH2 N(CH3 )2 , CH2 CH3 ], typically 4-(4,5-dimethoxy-2- nitrobenzyloxy)-phenylpropionic acid. The compound of the formula is prepared, for example, by allowing 4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl compound that is replaced with an eliminating group as a halogen or tosylate group to react with hydroxyphenylpropionic acid or its derivative in the presence of a weak base to etherify the phenolic hydroxyl group with 4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl group thereby attaining protection.</p> |
