An application program access method and a terminal. The method comprises: receiving a start instruction that is input for a target application program icon in a menu presentation interface (S101); determining whether a target application program corresponding to the target application program icon is a preset protected application program (S102); if yes, setting an icon presentation area corresponding to the target application program icon as a fingerprint collection area (S103); obtaining fingerprint information collected in the fingerprint collection area (S104); determining whether the fingerprint information matches a preset sample fingerprint information of the target application program (S105); and if yes, starting the target application program (S106). The method can improve the convenience in accessing a protected application program, and enhance confidentiality and security of the protected application program. |
