PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an internal combustion engine in which a cooling loss is reduced and thermal efficiency is improved, and a method for controlling the same.SOLUTION: A method for controlling an internal combustion engine (engine 1) includes a step of spraying fuel in a combustion chamber 17 of the internal combustion engine in a direction from a central part of the combustion chamber to an outer peripheral part, a step of adding ozone to air in the combustion chamber, and a step of accelerating combustion in the combustion chamber by the addition of the ozone and thereby ending the combustion before flames spreading in a direction from the central part of the combustion chamber to an external peripheral part together with the sprayed fuel reach a surface of a wall partitioning the combustion chamber. |
