EVENT SELECTOR TO GENERATE ALTERNATE VIEWS

An event view selector for a search user interface is described. In one or more implementations, a service may operate to collect and store data as events and apply a late binding schema to extract events that match the search criteria and provide search results for display via the search user interface. The search user interface exposes an event view selector operable to enable transitions between multiple different views of the events associated with different levels of detail. The views may include at least a raw view, a list view, and a table view. Responsive to receiving an indication of a view selected via the event view selector, the selected view may be exposed via the search user interface.

1. A method comprising:
accessing stored machine data in response to receiving, from a user, search queries on the stored machine data; in response to a search query on the machine data, determining a set of events that correspond to the search query, wherein the events include a set of fields, each field having a respective field value comprised of the stored machine data; and generating a search display interface that includes:
a sidebar identifying a subset of fields selected by the user from the set of fields,a condensed listing of the determined set of events, wherein the condensed listing includes, for each listed event, the respective field value for each field in the selected subset of fields, andan event display format toggle selector associated with an event in the condensed listing that, when selected, generates an alternate view comprising a display of the selected event's field values for fields other than the selected subset of fields.
