According to the present invention, the present invention relates to an engine starting system of a construction machine, and a method for controlling the same. The engine starting system of a construction machine prevents a loss of a construction machine work. According to the present invention, the engine starting system of a construction machine comprises: a starting electric motor connected to an engine of a construction machine; a battery guiding operation of the starting electric motor; a key switch installed between the starting electric motor and the battery; a magnetic switch having a plunger, a coil and a hold-in coil, a contact plate, a B-terminal and an M-terminal, and a S-terminal; an auxiliary relay having a sub-coil, a sub-plunger, a sub-contact plate, a first terminal, and a second terminal; a voltage meter; and a controller.
