PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for a vehicle, which has good appearance without damaging visibility, according to an external light amount.SOLUTION: A display device 1 for a vehicle comprises: a transmission type liquid crystal panel 2; a semi-transmission type liquid crystal panel 3 arranged in parallel with the transmission type liquid crystal panel 2; external light amount detection means 5 for detecting an external light amount; and control means 4 for controlling display intensity of the transmission type liquid crystal panel 2 and the semi-transmission type liquid crystal panel 3 on the basis of the light amount detected by the external light amount detection means 5.
