PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method and a cleaning device for a rolling mill roll, enabling foreign matter on the surface of the rolling mill roll to be surely removed and surface roughness of the rolling mill roll to be maintained.SOLUTION: The cleaning method for a rolling mill roll includes a measurement step, a setting step and a cleaning step. In the measurement step, a cavitation nozzle 41 is arranged at a position separated from a work roll 2 by a separation distance X, fluid for cleaning is jetted and a cleaning area width W in the shaft direction on the surface of the work roll 2 is measured. In the setting step, an axial direction-movement speed of the cavitation nozzle 41 is calculated based on the cleaning area width W, a diameter of the work roll 2 and a line feeding speed of a workpiece and a cleaning mode is set. In the cleaning step, the fluid is jetted toward the work roll 2 to clean the work roll while the cavitation nozzle 41 is moved in the axial direction in accordance with the set cleaning mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
